Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how EditorRun handles your data.
Introduction
Welcome to EditorRun's Privacy Policy. This document explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our online code editor.
EditorRun is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about our data practices. We comply with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and LGPD (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados).
By using EditorRun, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.
Data Collection
EditorRun is designed with privacy in mind. We minimize data collection and keep everything local to your browser.
Local Storage (Browser)
We store the following data locally in your browser using localStorage and sessionStorage:
- Your HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code
- Editor preferences (theme, font size, tab size, etc.)
- Language preference (English, Portuguese, Spanish)
- Custom snippets and libraries you create
No Server-Side Data Collection
We do NOT collect, store, or transmit your code to any server. Everything stays in your browser. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics services.
How We Use Your Data
The data stored locally in your browser is used exclusively to:
- Provide editor functionality and preserve your work between sessions
- Remember your preferences and settings
- Enable auto-save and restore features
- Provide a personalized coding experience
Code Sharing via URL
When you use the 'Share via URL' feature, your code is encoded in the URL as a base64 string. This allows you to share your code with others by sharing the link.
Important: Anyone with access to the shared URL can view your code. Do not share URLs containing sensitive information. Shared URLs are not stored on our servers.
Third-Party Services
EditorRun uses the following third-party services that may have their own privacy policies:
- Google Fonts: Used to load web fonts. Google may collect usage data. See Google's privacy policy.
- CDN Services: External JavaScript libraries loaded from CDNs (e.g., jsdelivr, unpkg) may have their own privacy policies.
- Monaco Editor: The Monaco Editor (VS Code's editor engine) runs entirely in your browser and does not transmit data.
We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party services you choose to use.
Your Rights (GDPR & LGPD)
Under GDPR and LGPD, you have the following rights regarding your data:
Right to Access
You can access all your data at any time through your browser's DevTools (Application > Local Storage).
Right to Deletion
You can delete your data at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage or using the 'Reset Project' feature.
Right to Portability
You can export your code as an HTML file using the 'Download Project' feature.
Right to Objection
Since all data is stored locally, you have complete control. You can stop using EditorRun at any time.
Data Security
Your data security is ensured by the browser's built-in security mechanisms. Since we don't transmit or store data on servers, there's no risk of server-side data breaches.
We recommend using a secure, up-to-date browser and protecting your device with appropriate security measures.
Children's Privacy
EditorRun is suitable for all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Since all data stays in the browser, there's no data collection or transmission to worry about.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated 'Last Updated' date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
